Tenebrae

What is Tenebrae? The word Tenebrae in Latin means “shadows”. During the Tenebrae Service Scripture is read and hymns are sung while the Sanctuary is progressively darkened. A candle is extinguished following each reading until no candles are lit and it is completely dark to symbolize Christ’s three days in the tomb. Finally a single candle is returned so that its light might symbolize the Resurrection.

This is a very beautiful and memorable service. Please plan to attend and bring your family and friends to Saint Aloysius on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM.
