Welcome friends!
Saint Aloysius Church 223 Beech Street Pottstown, PA 19464 610-326-5877 A brief history of Saint Aloysius Parish St. Aloysius Parish was the first Catholic Church established in Pottstown, Pennsylvania when the first church building was dedicated in 1856. Our current church building was dedicated in December 1891. The cornerstone of St. Aloysius School was laid in January 1913 and the present rectory was constructed in the early 1900s after a fire destroyed the original. Our parish has over 3,000 registered families, which represents an increase of about 10% over the past two years. Our parish school has 410 students enrolled and our Religious Education Program consists of 300 students. We have numerous ministries and activities that address the spiritual and social needs of our parishioners. We warmly welcome our new Pastor Fr. Joseph L. Maloney! Fr. Joseph L. Maloney has assumed his position as Pastor of St. Aloysius Parish on Monday, June 21. As is our tradition here at St Al’s, I am sure we will be a welcoming community to our new pastor. Previous to Fr. Maloney’s arrival here at St. Aloysius he was assigned to Immaculata University as Chaplain and Associate Director of Campus Ministry. Father was ordained from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1991. He served in various institutes such as Lansdale Catholic High School, Cardinal O’Hara High School, Parochial Vicar at St. Bernard in Philadelphia and St. Charles Borromeo Seminary as the Dean of Men for the College Division. The St. Al’s community is invited to attend a social gathering, in Begley Hall, following each Mass this weekend to welcome Fr. Maloney. My friends, change is hard on everyone. Leaving behind loved ones and the familiar to beginning again in a new place with new people is never easy, even under the best of circumstances. So don’t forget to pray for our beloved Fr. Walter J. Benn as he moves on to his next assignment and for Fr. Joseph L. Maloney upon his arrival as our new pastor. Please welcome and introduce yourself and say hello when you see him. My sisters and brothers, your prayers for both these men will be an enormous blessing to them. A formal installation of Fr. Maloney as Pastor of St. Aloysius Parish is scheduled to take place in the near future. God bless you. Fraternally in Christ, Fr. Angelo J. Hernandez Important Information for parishioners sending in Auto Payments Please be aware that many parishioners and school parents are now taking advantage of “auto bill paying” through their banks. We receive payments for Tuition, Sunday Collection, Capital Campaign, Cemetery lots, and our CARES program each week. Unfortunately, many of the payments are being received without documentation as to where to credit the payment. In order to post your payments to the proper account, we are requesting that you please notify your bank to clearly note what the payment is for on the check or on the stub. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Questions may be directed to Regina Brady, Business Manager (610) 326-5877, ext. 112. Registration forms are located in the vestibule of the church. Parents must send in their children’s registration forms by Sunday, June 13th. Currently, VBS is in need of a Kindergarten teacher, upper grade teacher, and an art leader. We NEED your help in order to once again offer a successful Vacation Bible School program. Call MaryAnn Renninger this week! To date we are lacking teachers and aides that are needed to run a VBS program – we will not be able to continue to hold a program this year without your help. Please call Mrs. Renninger at 610-326-5877, ext. 146 to volunteer.
